Wiggins Pass

Access: Foot, Boat, Canoe/Kayak
Species: snook, trout, pompano, ladyfish, spanish mackerel, black drum, flounder
Best Tide: outgoing

Accessible on foot from Delnor Wiggins State Park or from Barefoot Beach, or by boat (launch from the Cocohatchee River Park for direct access). Snook can be found along the inside beaches, especially on the north end during outgoing tides. The pass also holds trout, pompano, ladyfish, and most other inshore species at the right times.

A tip from the Ryans: During a strong outgoing tide, fish from the beach inside the north end of the pass using live shrimp, or even better, by cast netting whatever bait is in the area. A 1/0 circle hook should do the trick, but make sure you have enough strength in your line (15 lb braid with a 30 lb flourocarbon leader) and rod to pull in a big snook. I've been fooled before!
